Five key takeaways from our seminars with K&L Gates and SEI

01 November 2024

Private assets continue to grow strongly with assets forecast to surpass $21 trillion globally by 2030.

Last week,  alongside partners K&L Gates and SEI, Carne Group hosted Chicago and New York Seminars focusing on the opportunities in the private credit space in Europe.

The panels in both locations had engaging discussions on; the continuing rise of private credit in the European market, emerging trends in the secondaries market , tax considerations for the U.S., Ireland, and Luxembourg, the ELTIF 2.0 and marketing of funds in the EU.

The key points covered were;

  • There is a wide range of fund structures  available in both Ireland and Luxembourg to support parallel and tax efficient vehicles for US Private Credit managers,
  • The scale of the private credit industry is growing significantly and funds continue to step into gaps left by banks who are subject to capital constraints
  • Opportunities exist in Europe both to raise assets but also for US asset managers to develop European direct lending franchises.
  • The ‘ELTIF 2.0’  and other structures allows access to asset classes including private credit and private equity for high net worth and  retail investors
  • The choice of marketing strategy is key – managers must ensure they complete the necessary research to ascertain whether the US manager chooses to directly market the fund or appoint third parties to do so.
  • The choice of strategic partnership with specialist service providers is a fundamental one, this provides speed to market for the initial product launch but also the ‘best in class partner’ in terms of insight on future product, regulatory and tax updates

Thank you to those who attended and to our partners K&L Gates and SEI.
