In the December edition of Talking Points we asked recipients to take part in a survey to provide insights into how the way we work might change in the future.

The findings suggest that the majority of respondents would be open to hot desking in the future, with most people saying that meetings would be the primary reason for going into the office. However, they also said that they would be happy to conduct more than 50% of their meetings virtually.

The survey shows a big attitude shift towards international travel with most respondents saying they would reduce airline travel by up to 95% compared to 2019. The ability to attend conferences virtually was the most influential factor taken into account when deciding whether to travel to attend international conferences.

According to the results, the changes in how we work will remain in a post pandemic world. This despite the lack of social life and collaborative interactions, which were mentioned by the participants as the biggest disadvantage of remote working. The main advantages of remote working were described as time efficiency, better work-life balance and the end of commutes.
