Mike has over 30 years’ experience in the offshore financial industry, firstly in the British Virgin Islands and, since 2004, in the Cayman Islands. He has been acting as an independent fund director since 2012, and prior to that was focused on tailored fund-based solutions for private family offices. He has a background in accounting, audit and fund administration and works with a variety of managers in private debt, hedge, private equity, systematic trading and the CTA space.

For several years he managed swap trades and derivative baskets with Royal Bank of Canada’s alternatives desk in New York, managing c. $250m in alternative and hedge fund positions. He managed leveraged hedge fund trades with SocGen in Paris, developing strategy matrices, managing correlations, and being involved in all aspects of manager identification, performance evaluation, and operational due diligence. He has also consulted on several private equity investments for family offices.

Mike qualified as an accountant in the UK with Deloitte & Touche; He has a Masters’ in Classics from St. John’s College, Cambridge University, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is a past council member of the BVI Association of Mutual Fund Practitioners. Mike joined Carne in the Cayman Islands in 2024.
