John Skelly

John is a Principal at Carne Group with over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He currently acts as director and chairman on a number of Irish fund management company and fund boards. He also acts as a director of a number of Cayman Islands’ investment funds.

John is a specialist in compliance, regulation, risk, product development, finance, and operations for both traditional funds and hedge funds and has helped develop the operational infrastructure of several management companies and investment funds. He has in-depth understanding of hedge fund and traditional fund operational requirements and has project managed a number of fund launches. He has in-depth knowledge of the risk and compliance AIFMD and UCITS V requirements.

Previously John was Chief Operating Officer of Carlton Capital Partners in London, where he was responsible for developing and running the operations of a start-up fund of hedge funds. He has also served as General Manager of the Dublin branch of BNP Paribas Securities Services, reporting to the Head of Compliance in Paris. He was previously a member of the Council of the Irish Funds Industry Association and an active member on a number of their committees, including the Marketing Committee, Trustee Committee, and the Alternative Investment Committee. John trained as a chartered accountant with Deloitte & Touche.
