John Cotter

John Cotter is Chief Financial Officer at Carne Group, and an Executive Director on Carne’s Board.

John has more than 35 years of experience in Finance, the majority in senior leadership positions in financial services. He joined Carne from Wells Fargo Bank International, where he spent four years as Chief Financial Officer, building a first-class finance function to drive the growth and development of the business. Prior to that he was Group Finance Director, and later Group Chief Executive of IFG Group PLC, a publicly listed Financial Services business in the Pension and Financial advisory space…..

He has also had leadership roles at Collins Stewart Hawkpoint PLC, Royal Bank of Scotland and Morgan Stanley. Over a 15-year career at Morgan Stanley, John was CFO of Morgan Stanley Bank International Limited, and also headed up a pan-European team across financial, regulatory and treasury finance, focusing on the efficient management of the broader business from a funding and capital perspective.

John started his career at Coopers & Lybrand as an audit supervisor in 1990, having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1989. He has also held several non-executive roles across his career. John is also a Chartered Director with the Institute of Director’s in Ireland since 2022.
