Joe Hardiman

Joe is a Managing Director of Carne in the U.S. He has over 35 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including more than 20 years managing and providing governance and oversight for structures domiciled in Luxembourg, Ireland, the Cayman Islands, and the United States.

Joe was formerly responsible for the American Express Luxembourg fund ranges and sat on the board of directors of all related fund vehicles and the associated management companies. He was also on the boards of the American Express hedge fund offerings as well as their private equity structures. He currently oversees structures that invest across a wide variety of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, infrastructure, derivatives, private equity and private debt.

In addition to providing governance and oversight, Joe acts as the US Partnership Representative for several investment managers domiciled outside of the U.S.. He also works as a consultant for Carne, focusing his efforts on managers interested in expanding into the offshore market. He provides structuring services, launch advice and project management with a specialization in UCITS and AIFMD compliant vehicles. Prior to joining Carne in 2010, Joe spent 13 years at American Express managing their offshore collective investment vehicle business and 10 years at Alliance-Bernstein managing financial controls and operational risk.
